Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Do you find it frustrating when you are trying to focus on a task, but can’t? Or when you know you just had that paper you needed in your hand, but it is now lost in the messy pile on your desk, in your backpack, or somewhere in a black hole? Are you tired of being told to sit still, listen better, or think before you speak?

ADHD is a commonly seen childhood disorder that can persist into adulthood. It is characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity. Other symptoms can include disorganization, poor focus, careless errors, trouble staying on task, forgetting daily activities, poor planning, daydreaming, and/or difficulty regulating emotions. Individuals with ADHD typically find their symptoms frustrating as their daily functioning is negatively impacted.

It is important to obtain a clear diagnosis of ADHD through psychological or neuropsychological testing as a number of other conditions and factors can mimic or contribute to attention problems. The testing can differentiate between ADHD or another issue affecting you.

Graven and Associates works diligently with patients and their families to help clarify the diagnosis and develop a treatment plan designed for that specific patient. Treatment may consist of, but not be limited to, behavioral modification, mindfulness training, academic accommodations, family therapy, individual therapy, ADHD medication management, occupational therapy, dietary adjustments, and/or an improvement in sleep.
