Dr. Leigh Neale
Leigh Neale, Ph.D., ATR-BC is a licensed psychologist with a health service provider designation in both Kentucky and North Carolina. She is also a board-certified art therapist. Dr. Neale’s treatment philosophy is working with each individual, at any age, to help them access their own internal healing and strengths that will allow them to make the changes in their lives they desire.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Davidson College, she attended the University of Louisville where she received her master’s degree in expressive therapy, her master’s degree in counseling psychology, and her doctoral degree in counseling psychology. Dr. Neale completed her pre-doctoral internship at Broughton State Psychiatric Hospital in Morganton, North Carolina. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient adolescent residential facilities and long-term geriatric care. Past treatment facilities include the state psychiatric facility in Morganton, North Carolina, an outpatient substance abuse prevention and treatment facility in Asheville, North Carolina, as well as private practice in Hazard, Kentucky. Most recently, Dr. Neale served as Associate Director of Child and Family Services and at a community mental health agency. She is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the Kentucky Psychology Psychological Association, and the American Art Therapy Association.
Dr. Neale is experienced in child, adolescent and adult behavioral health services. In addition to traditional therapies and expressive therapies, Dr. Neale has completed extensive training in diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, and substance abuse.
Dr. Neale treats developmental disorders, ADHD, trauma, school and work stress, adjustment disorders, parenting issues, children’s divorce recovery, clinical addictions and substance abuse/co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, chronic pain, anger management, and offers a full range of psychological evaluations.
Dr. Neale enjoys spending time with her children, gardening, trail running, biking, and laughing with friends and family.
