Dr. Leigh Neale, PhD, ATR-BC, LCAS is a licensed psychologist in both Kentucky and North Carolina. She is also an Art Therapist. Dr. Neale’s treatment philosophy is working with each individual, at any age, to help them access their own internal healing and strengths that will allow them to make the changes in their lives they desire.
After receiving her BA in Psychology at Davidson College, she attended the University of Louisville where she received an MA in Expressive Therapy, an MEd in Counseling Psychology, and a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Neale completed her pre-doctoral internship at Broughton State Psychiatric Hospital in Morganton, North Carolina. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient adolescent residential facilities and long term geriatric care. Past treatment facilities include the state psychiatric facility in Morganton, North Carolina; an outpatient substance abuse prevention and treatment facility in Asheville, North Carolina; as well as private practice in Hazard, Kentucky. Most recently, Dr. Neale served as Associate director of Child and Family Services and at a Community Mental Health agency.
Dr. Neale is experienced in child, adolescent and adult behavioral health services. In addition to traditional therapies and expressive therapies, Dr. Neale has completed extensive training in diagnosis and treatment of ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, and substance abuse.
Dr. Neale treats developmental disorders, ADHD, trauma, school and work stress, adjustment disorders, parenting issues, children’s divorce recovery, clinical addictions and substance abuse/co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, chronic pain, anger management, and a full range of psychological evaluations.
Dr. Neale is married with 4 children. Dr. Neale enjoys gardening, trail running, biking, her husband’s cooking, and laughing with friends and family.
