Paul Carney, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist with a health service provider designation in both Kentucky and Indiana. In his over 25 years of experience, he has worked in outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities, and, while a Captain in the United States Army, as Chief of Psychology at Ireland Army Community Hospital, located in Ft. Knox.
Dr. Carney graduated with honors from the University of California Santa Barbara with his bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology. He obtained his master’s degree in clinical psychology from California State University. Further, he earned his doctoral degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, where he specialized in psychological assessment as well as the treatment of adults. Dr. Carney’s internship was performed at the Norfolk Regional Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. He is also a member of the Kentucky Psychological Association.Dr. Carney has extensive experience in the assessment of child and adult ADHD, learning difficulties/challenges, and the specific issues which may be impacting depression and anxiety. He has performed well over 4,000 comprehensive psychological evaluations. Dr. Carney also has vast psychotherapy experience in treating emotional and behavioral issues in adults. While providing compassionate care, he emphasizes the importance of changing thoughts and behaviors in order to assist his patients in achieving their true potential.
Dr. Carney has been married for over 35 years. During his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, golfing, and playing with his black Labrador puppy.
